Planning for the care of a beloved pet after they have passed can be a difficult process while grieving. We want to provide the highest level of care for you and your pet, and these steps help make sure we understand your preferences.
Here are some important instructions to help ensure a smooth process for dropping off your pet:
- Contact our office in advance: Before dropping off your pet, it's important to contact us at 505-345-5615 to schedule an appointment. Staff may not be readily available after hours; however, we monitor our voicemails/e-mails after hours and on weekends and will get back to you within a few hours. If your pet passes after hours, you can wait until the next business day to bring your pet to us. Or, drop your pet off at Roadrunner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital and we will pick up your pet during our regularly scheduled route.

bring your pet to us. Or, drop your pet off at Roadrunner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital and we will pick up your pet during our regularly scheduled route. You can also arrange for at-home, after hours pick-up through our
trusted partners.
- Complete the Online Arrangement form: Before bringing your beloved pet to our office, we encourage you to make
online arrangements. If you have any questions or concerns, our staff will be able to address them in advance so you can make informed decisions.
- Prepare your pet:
Make sure your pet is placed in a secure and dignified manner such as a pet cremation casket or wrapped in a towel or blanket. For transport, we recommend adding a waterproof layer beneath your pet such as a puppy pad or even a lawn and leaf bag. We will help bring your loved one into our care when you drop off your pet.
- Say goodbye:
Take as much time as you need to say goodbye to your pet. If you want to bring a favorite treat or small toy, we will do our best to honor your request to cremate that special item with your pet.
